Learn how to treat the seven bodily systems that underlie many mental health issues without resorting to psychopharmacology by:

  • Developing a simple clinical assessment procedure you can use without medical training
  • Understanding the role of digestion and nutrition in many psychiatric symptoms
  • Assessing the influence of lifestyle issues in clients’ clinical complaints
  • Becoming knowledgeable about such factors as hormones, oxidative stress, free radicals, toxic substances, and various environmental influences
  • Discovering how complementary treatments like acupuncture can play a role in treatment

Richard Simon, Ph.D.

Richard Simon, PhD, was a clinical psychologist and the late editor of Psychotherapy Networker, the most topical, timely, and widely read publication in the psychotherapy field. During his career, he received every major magazine industry honor, including the National Magazine Award.

Robert Hedaya, MD, DLFAPA, ABPN, IFMCP

Robert J. Hedaya, MD, DLFAPA, ABPN, IFMCP, has been at the cutting edge of medical practice, psychiatry, and psychopharmacology since 1979. With the publication of his first book, Understanding Biological Psychiatry (Norton, 1996), he pioneered the use of functional medicine in the psychiatric field. He is now pioneering the use of HYLANE technology in the treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders. Dr. Hedaya is a clinical professor of Psychiatry at Georgetown University Medical Center, where he has been awarded the “Teacher of the Year” on 3 occasions. He is a faculty member at the Institute for Functional Medicine, and the founder of the Whole Psychiatry and Brain Recovery Center. He has been featured in the local and national media (20/20, 60 Minutes, Vogue, the New York Times, Washington Post, etc.) on many occasions and is a frequent, nationally, and internationally recognized speaker.
