Amy Weintraub, MFA, C-IAYT, is the founder and director of the LifeForce Yoga Healing Institute, in Tucson, AZ, where she maintains a Yoga therapy practice. She is the author of the bestselling Yoga for Depression (Broadway Books) and the ground-breaking Yoga Skills for Therapists: Effective Practices for Mood Management (W.W. Norton), and has been a pioneer in the field of yoga and mental health for over 20 years. She has trained hundreds of health care professionals as LifeForce Yoga Practitioners and presented seminars at notable international venues such as the Psychotherapy Networker Symposium, the Cape Cod Institute, the Boston University Graduate School of Psychology, and medical schools around the United States. She teaches regularly at Kripalu Institute, Omega Institute and Esalen. She writes frequently on the subject of yoga and mental health for national magazines and psychotherapy journals and is often interviewed in newspapers, on national radio programs and in magazines. The LifeForce Yoga protocol is being used in residential treatment centers, hospitals and by health care providers around the world. She is involved in ongoing NIH-funded research on the effects of yoga on mood, and has produced an award-winning library of evidence-based yoga and meditation CDs and DVDs for mood management.
