Description
A must-have resource for therapists, educators, and caregivers seeking creative, effective ways to support children’s emotional growth and resilience.
Written by play therapist Tracy Turner-Bumberry, LPC, RPT-S, CAS, this practical toolbox features 75 simple, playful, and targeted interventions rooted in mindfulness, expressive arts, and play therapy. Designed to help children strengthen self-regulation, improve focus, and cope with big emotions, each activity is easy to use, portable, requires minimal materials, and can be clearly explained to parents, teachers, and fellow therapists.
Learning mindfulness can be challenging—especially for children with autism, anxiety, ADHD, or other emotional regulation difficulties. This book meets kids where they are, offering developmentally appropriate, hands-on approaches that make mindfulness accessible and meaningful, including:
- Breathing exercises
- Drawing and coloring, including mandalas
- Nature-based activities
- Multi-media and three-dimensional projects
- Movement, sensory experiences, and games
- Storytelling, puppetry, and improvisational play
